Crown “caps” are a type of dental restoration, which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant and is typically bonded to the tooth using a dental cement.

Crowns can be made from many materials, which are usually fabricated using indirect methods. Crowns are often used to improve the strength and/or appearance of teeth.

At First choice dental we use new technology utilising computers for crown and bridge fabrication, called CEREC which utilises CAD/CAM technology in Dentistry.

In some cases we use dental impression of a prepared tooth or teeth to fabricate the crown outside of the mouth. The crown can then be inserted at a subsequent dental appointment.

Using any of these indirect methods allows use of strong restorative materials requiring time consuming fabrication methods requiring intense heat, such as casting metal or firing porcelain which would not be possible to complete inside the mouth.

Dental bridges are used when teeth are missing. Implants have taken the lead in being the first options of replacing missing teeth.

The options of replacing missing teeth fall in two categories of either being fixed or removable.

The fixed options are usually:

1- Dental implants

2- dental bridges

The removable option is a denture in the form of partial or full denture in a case where all teeth are missing.

If you’ve not visited us before and you are interested in more information about crown and bridge work or other options, Feel free to contact us for a consultation to find out how we can help you.
